This book has songs that most kids have heard, e.g.Yankee Doodle. I use it with my students who are just beginning to read notes. The songs are all in middle C position. We write in the name of the notes at first and then gradually have less and...

less "crutches." The children enjoy playing a song that other people recognize.

Children like the songs in this book and enjoy playing them either alone or with the duet accompaniment provided. Could be used as a beginning sightreading book (Middle C orientation), or after completing a beginning theory book, such as the John Thompson Notespeller.
