    Strong, independent, flexible fingers are fundamental to good piano technique. Good relaxation and fluid motion over the keyboard are impossible without very strong fingers. I studied Pischna as a child, never appreciating how beneficial these exercises are. If one practices the Pischna studies, slowly, carefully (perfectly legato) and firmly (forte...

    ), gratifying results will be achieved quite quickly. Pischna, in particular, is good for stretching the hand without undue strain, thus giving the pianist greater flexibility. There are many sets of exercises you can buy: this is one of the best!
