This is a great book for teenage and young adults. Good paper, book pages do not fall out, printing is nicely spaced and it is filled with beautiful music that even rock music listening students enjoy. I have used it for all of my students and they have commented it...

    is also their favorite.

Beautiful flowing music....especially Reverie and Ballade (my favorite). Challenging Reflets dans l'eau. A joy to play!

  • January 26, 2010 Excellent book

I acquired this exact book over 30 years ago and I am still playing out of the same book today. Debussy's music is very interesting and beautiful. It does help to acquire a good recording of the music to get an idea of the speed and awkward rhythms. My...

all time favorite pieces are the Sarabande and the First Arabesque. There are pieces in this book like the Ballad and Passepied which are extremely unique and great fun to play. I wished it had the Engulfed Cathedral, but that's in another book in here.

My piano teacher got this book for me in the early 1970's. The handwritten notes and fingering, etc. are priceless. Countless hours were spent going over sections with a pencil between my teeth while working on these pieces. My son, who is now 24 and studying music, also used...

this book and loved it. When I was able to find the exact book with the same cover I knew it would be a treasure for him too. It has something for all levels and abilities.

So many of Debussy's masterpieces are in this book but the edition isn't great. No fingerings whatsoever but I didn't have trouble fingering the pieces myself. Estampes, Image Book I, and L'Isle Joyeuse are advanced and Suite Bergamasque is quite a challenge but the rest is...

intermediate/advanced. If you're new to Debussy then this book will go over your head. I would suggest learning several of his preludes before attempting Image or Estampes and listening to Claudio Arrau is a good idea.
