Being a huge Ravel fan, I bought this book a little over a year ago, mainly so I could have the music for the ridiculously-hard-but-beautiful Ondine. It is wonderful how much of Ravel's is in this--practically half of his piano works. The book is practical...

. Yet this tends to be the book's only downside. The only information on the pieces in the entire thing is the poems for Gaspard de la Nuit. I won't even consider this edition to learn Miroirs, Nancy Bricard's is superior by far with her endless suggestions, historical background, photographs, fingerings, and notes/comments by Ravel and others. Though I would recommend something else if you are planning on performing these pieces, such as Nancy Bricard, this is a great book to have around.

  • February 20, 2007 Get this edition!

I bought this edition for a student. While I have not had a chance to compare the entire volume with my older copies of the works, a quick spot check of some particular errors in the originals reveals that many have been corrected in this edition.

  • June 28, 2004 A fantastic value

It's hard to believe how much Ravel there is stuffed into this little book. From the classic stand-bys Jeux d'eau and the Pavane to the arcane Gaspard and Miroirs, this book offers a great range of Ravel. Beware- there are no fingerings to help you through this...

difficult music. Also, the notation is very small. Don't buy this is you have bad eyesight. Otherwise it's just an annoyance in an otherwise terrific book.
