  • December 15, 2012 Wonderful start for Beginners!

This collection of Christmas carols for beginners is wonderful to get them started. My students who are using this book are eager to move on to all of the carols presented! They like to surprise me with moving ahead on their own.

Students should be confident in reading notes close to the middle of the keyboard and using both hands. Quite a bit of hand movement. Good theory drills.

  • November 24, 2009 Great for learning but not for recitals

These simple arrangements enhance the Level 2B series but are somewhat short and simple for a recital piece. They usually present each piece just one time through with very simple harmonizations or with a duet part. In the student part, there is little expression or variety in style from one...

piece to the next. In my recitals, I prefer choosing longer pieces with clear introductions/codas and very distinct character to highlight the student's technique and expression. Though the pieces are simple, the texture of the pieces relates very well to the theory concepts discussed in this series. I would recommend this book to students who wanted to learn many Christmas carols in one season.

  • October 26, 2007 Nice Christmas Book

This is a good Christmas book. It has some good pieces in it. I really like the 'Stocking Stuffers.' Those are fun theory exercises. This is a good book to go along with the other 2B books.
