If you're up for a challenge, take this one on! The creepy low-register passacaglia theme is easy enough to play, and some of the early variations are not all that difficult, but they become increasingly more challenging as the piece unfolds. Key-wise, basically has a g#-minor...

feel to it, but it's funky with alot of chromatics and discords thrown around. The "comes-out-of-nowhere" b-flat minor variation is based on a strangely convoluted retrogression of the original theme. The "Irish Jig" sounding variation has an eerie charm, and is among the easier variations to play. The last variation builds up to a loud crashing climax, and ends the piece with a bang, and on the "tonic" chord of g#-minor! An odd early 20th century work, and a youthful work of Copland's (he was only 22 and still studying under Boulanger in Paris when he wrote this), and well worth the tough going it will present to the pianist.
