Clear typeset / font and great flute music. Interesting historical context and a few brief interpretation considerations referencing original manuscript.

I heard this on a CD I have over and over, and each time I was just amazed by it. I finally got around to searching for it online. I love it even more now that I can play it! My friends were blown away:)

  • March 12, 2008 Notes daring you to make music of them!

This publication is an Urtext edition, meaning that the notes etc. are as close to the original manuscript as possible. In this case, there are no editing marks or hints for playing the 4 movements. Without a teacher/coach, you may make a novel interpretation that is not received as...

an 'authentic' baroque Bach sound. Be prepared to reach into your inner spirit once the intervals and breath support are mastered. The edition - as are all Baerenreiter - is very high quality, easy to read even at a distance. Try it - it will be addictive!

  • May 14, 2007 Learning it Thoroughly -

Jose has a good point. Jazz or Sacred? One should practice the Allemande with the metronome on, and off the quaver beat. Bach reveals himself to us. A composition which transcends the the performer. Play it how you like. Whether you feel like 'Dinah Moe Humm' or the 'Dali Llama...

', Bach shows you that neither is relevant.
