Composed by Traditional Melody. Arranged by James Michael Stevens. Folk,Spiritual,Standards. 5 pages. James M Stevens Music ASCAP #1984393. Published by James M Stevens Music ASCAP (A0.571909).

Written on March 16, 2016, this is an original arrangement of the classic early American folk song, "Oh Shenandoah" for Violin and Piano. There is somewhat of a mystery of the song's origins and meaning and there are many versions of the lyrics. But the song conveys a deep longing for a distant land and love that is too deep to express in ordinary words and must be expressed through song. There is a separate violin part in the score and the track is available at SMP under "Oh Shenandoah PIANO TRACK." The Violin part is at an intermediate level while the piano part is a little more challenging. This piece could also be played as a piano solo. James Michael Stevens is a prolific composer residing in Nashville, TN.
