A new melody for a beloved ancient text. Various historical English translations were used to arrange the poetry: there is the familiar first verse, followed by verses that include invocations for the creation to praise the Creator. The text is sometimes associated with Christmas in the liturgical calendar. Other themes include doctrine concerning creation and the Trinity. The choral parts are purposefully scalar to keep them simple and unfussy. Phrases begin regularly on beat two to add momentum and interest. Ranges are within reach of an amateur choir.
