Composed by German Folk Tune. Arranged by James Gilbert. Baroque Period, Contemporary Classical, Christian, Sacred, General Worship. 4 pages. Published by James Gilbert Music (S0.65525).

For Solo Organ

An arrangement of the hymn by this name which is based on a German folk tune. This is a fughetta like setting of the tune ES FLOG EIN KLEINS WALDVOGELEIN.
For the reviewer who thought the piece has awkward voice leading, transitions and harmonic progressions, I'd love to have them pointed out to me. Contact me via my website (listed in the copyright, jamesgilbertmusic.com). For the life of me, all I see are smooth voice leading and obvious transitions & harmonic progressions. It reminds me of many Baroque titles I've played. It is an advanced level piece and meant to be difficult even if the reviewer doesn't think it should be difficult. Ah, now I understand, perhaps they just can't play it and prefer to criticize it instead of learning it?

The piece is not well written: awkward voice leading, transitions, and harmonic progressions actually make it more difficult than it looks, or should be.
