The following describes the inspiration for the piece: 'Nocturne was inspired by recent late-night strollsthrough Venice, the rippling light on the canals, the intrigue of each twistand turn when the city is in darkness. The city of Vivaldi, a city of athousand church bells'. The central section of the piece quotes the famous melody from Movement No.2 of Vivaldi's 'Winter' from the Four Seasons.
