I have had this book a while but have only just got around to using it.Audibly I am sure that the transcriptions are accurate, but I find it hard to believe that songs were played on bass in keys such as B Major, Eb Major and Db Major, it...

would seem more likely that the Bass was detuned a 1/2 tone i.e. Eb instead of E and that the songs was played in C, E, and D.The transcriptions would have been better in these keys with a detune notification ... all IMHO !!!

  • October 23, 2011 classic lines

A great collection of notated and tabbed classic soul bass playing, the blue print for great bass lines. Also includes accurate lyrics, melody, vocal harmonies and chord notation...so an excellent 'fake book' for the whole band, not just the bass foundation.Great for analysing why these lines worked so...

well and help you create better bass lines

  • December 10, 2007 A bigger lesson than just songs

These lines (and songs) are just as valuable for their groove/pocket lessons as they are for learning great tunes.

  • December 02, 2007 Easy to play notes

This is a great book for the beginner. The notes are really easy to play. It would be really good if it had the play along CD to hear how it actually sounds.
