Piano - SMP Level 2 (Late Elementary); NFMC Level: Primary Class 4
Composed by Carol Matz. Piano Solo. Alfred's Premier Piano Solos. Early Intermediate level piece for the Piano Solo event with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals Bulletin 2008-2009-2010. Sheet. 4 pages. Alfred Music #00-22493. Published by Alfred Music (AP.22493).

Item Number: AP.22493

English.

This delicate solo depicts perfectly the wonder of discovering fresh morning snow. It is an excellent piece for working on balance between the hands, shaping the melody and using legato pedal. The left-hand rhythmic ostinato in the opening and closing sections will aid in learning and memorizing the music as well.

About SMP Level 2 (Late Elementary)

5-finger patterns still used but position changes are more frequent including one octave scale passages. Some 3 note chords.

  • July 06, 2012 pretty piece

I was looking for sheet music for my daughter and loved the fact that I could listen to it before purchasing. I also purchased Arabian Tale I am not a piano player myself so it is a great way to purchase a gift.

I echo the other reviews that comment on the beauty of this piece. A great recital choice for a quick first year/second year student.

5 STARS! Morning Snowfall just sounds so lovely, go ahead and "LISTEN TO", and "LOOK AT" this one, yet it's easy to learn within the 5 finger position in both hands 98% of the time, really Late Elementary, but this is "THE BEST" for a Recital, playing at the...

HOLIDAY TIMES, anytime it's snowing out, anytime. It will only take a short time to learn to memorize this one, anyone will love to play & hear this piece - it's my favorite Winter Time piano piece, it's so easy to learn & play, BUT sounds so wonderful to everyone! Enjoy, happy playing!

This is a great piece for late elementary students--beautiful melody, presents some challenge but not overwhelming. A good one for the student who may be bored with a lot of their method book music.

  • July 26, 2011 Great preparatory left-hand etude too!

I found this lovely little piece sitting on my niece's piano while visiting and, being nearsighted, held it up to my nose while playing it for the first time with the left hand alone. To my delight, I discovered I could play it through with just the left hand...

playing the melody notes with the thumb and forefinger - it's a great exercise in learning to roll twelfth intervals without missing a beat (hence my difficulty rating) This is a nice segue for more advanced students who may try their hand (no pun intended) with something like Raymond Lewenthal's 1972 anthology, "Piano music for one hand". (I love Blumenfeld's etude for the left hand, op. 36 in that collection.)
