By Georg Philipp Telemann

Here too are some cantatas of a moral sortWhich almost everyone so far has pleasing thought. The first set you already have - it doth appear; But not being sure I beg to enclose them here. These lines from a versified letter with which the Hamburg music director Georg Philipp Telemann announced a package of music to the merchant friend J. R. Hollander in Riga on September 1, 1736, refer to two collections of six secular cantatas each for one voice with instrumental accompaniment that were published shortly after each other by the composer's self-publishing house.
