If you’re a fan of “The Hobbit”, then you’ll love being able to play “Misty Mountains Cold” on the harp! You’ll get good practice playing cleanly in the lower register with the dramatic left-hand rolled chords to emulate the low voices of the singing dwarves. This adaptation maintains the slow, mysterious character of the original song while adding movement and interest through rhythmic patterns and harmonies. If you learn this piece with the video course, Carrie will walk you through how to master those tricky rhythms and avoid buzzing with all those low, rolled chords!
Difficulty Level and Skills Required: Early-intermediate. The right hand consists of interesting rhythms, overlapping brackets, and quick placing of notes. The left hand has rolled chords in the bass, overlapping brackets, and many 4-2-1 patterns.
Type of Harp: Big harp version is for 33 string harps or larger, but small harp version works for 26 string harps or larger.
Range: For big harps: lowest note is C two octaves below middle C, highest note is A one and a half octaves above middle C. For small harps: lowest note is C one octave below middle C, highest note is D just more than two octaves above middle C.
Levers/Pedals: In the key of D minor. (Set B flats before playing). No lever changes.
