  • May 10, 2007 A wonderful challenge in sight reading!

'Missa O Quam Gloriosum Est Regnum' by Thomas Victoria is a wonderful treat in choral Renaissance singing. As an unaccompanied work it really challenges keen amateur singers such as myself, as well as the experienced professional musician. A particular feature of the Mass is its equisite passages of sustained phrases...

conveying SABT harmonies. In my view,if performed with just the right balance of interweaving voices it is one of the most gratifying choral experiences that one could have as a singer. I am not a music teacher but the need for absolute accuracy in timing and pitch in this work certainly develops sight reading skills to a different level!
