The Melodious Etudes for Trumpet are based on the vocalises of Marco Bordogni. These vocalises are considered to be some of the most musically appealing in the vocal repertoire. They have been carefully transcribed and arranged to be suitable for use in the study of the trumpet. Playing lyrical music is the vehicle by which instrumentalists improve their musicianship. Through these etudes the student will work on phrasing, tone quality, and line direction. Sonority of tone is a key element in successfully mastering the etudes. This collection combines fifty-four of the most popular Bordogni vocalises and continuously works on these important musical skills. The etudes also contain a wealth of material to build technical facility in a wide variety of keys. This edition presents the material in a pedagogical sequence that progresses from the easiest keys and rhythms to the more difficult. It is hoped that these etudes, as transcribed for trumpet, will help to improve the expressive playing of trumpet players everywhere.

  • November 09, 2011 Excellent lyric trumpet book

This is one of the finest books available to help with lyric playing on the trumpet. It progresses from relatively easy to more difficult etudes. All the etudes are well edited and the musical notation is top notch. I highly recommend this book for all levels of trumpet players.

This book is a GREAT idea. However, it needs more material and some written explanation for the studies. Too bad it is a half finished idea (or a bit less than half-finished).
