An arpeggio is simply playing the notes of a chord, one after another, in a melodic fashion. Piano, bass, string, and horn players routinely find the study of arpeggios a staple of their learning process. But, somehow, guitarists often manage to skip over this essential musical building block. This book is designed to demystify arpeggios and demonstrate their application in a musical and easy-to-understand format. All of the material is presented within the context of various “jam tracks” which allow students to immediately apply new knowledge and hear for themselves why arpeggios are essential to their playing. All of the music examples are presented in standard notation and tablature so there is no need to read music. Also includes a special demonstration and play-along CD.

This is a great book designed for players stuck in the "pentatonic straightjacket". Clearly demonstrates how to add melody to your playing through chord tones, or arpeggios. Jam tracks are great and solos are approachable and highly musical. Galbo is straightforward and very musical in his approach and intent. Galbo...

is co-author, with Arnie Berle, of the classic 'Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar' book and understands how to write for the student. You will not get lost in this book and will find yourself smiling as you not only begin to create some of the sounds you have always heard but also understand the thinking behind them, allowing you to really own these concepts, not just memorize a few licks to forget later on. Buy this book and tell your friends. Books like this need to find an audience to stay in print and Galbo has expertly filled a gap for intermediate and even advanced non-jazz guitar players who want to play like masters.

This is a great book. The author has created solos that combine melody, soulfulness and the blues. Clearly written and to the point. Shows how melodies are constructed of the notes of the chords and then scale tones and blue notes add nuance and accent. Jam tracks are great, easy...

to play with. You could do a lot worse than buying this book.
