This composition for SATB choir and piano is an effort to cover a vacuum: The well-known musicalform of a MAGNIFICAT in the original, Greek Language. It is provided with Greek sounding transcription in Latin letters. The text comes from the Gospel according to Luke (Luc. 1:46-55) and describesthe visitation of the pregnant Theotokos to her cousin Elisabeth and her joyand gratitude as "the baby leaped in herwomb".
This work is a effort to combine the Byzantine musical tradition with western music choral polyphony.
