This catchy Calypso arrangement of Mary’s Boy Child was inspired by Boney M’s performance from 1978. Written for Evenly Leveled Intermediate level, added finger snaps, thigh slaps and interesting rhythms make it fun to learn and perform.
You Gotta Know the Score:
Elementary (Pianist 1) is never asked to move hand positions, however the rhythm might be tricky- but it is easily taught by rote, since it’s the same melody as everyone else.
Late Elementary (Pianist 2) Right hand melody is is the challenge here, so the Left hand only plays 1 note in each measure. Some RH finger crossings are presented.
Early Intermediate (Pianist 3) Right hand is very similar to Pianist 4, but where P. 4 might have 6ths, Pianist 3 has 3rds.
Intermediate (Pianist 4) Full arrangement.
Great to use in worship service or as a closer for recital!
