Concert Band (Score & Parts) - Grade 3
Composed by Hector Berlioz (1803-1869). Arranged by Calvin Custer. MusicWorks Grade 3. Symphonic, March, Concert, Classical. Score and parts. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.8721707).

Item Number: HL.8721707

9x12 inches.

From Berlioz's 'Symphonie Fantasique,' Calvin Custer has carefully captured the picturesque drama of the original orchestral work. Opening with a solemn procession that quickly transforms into a brilliant march, the piece continues to build in intensity up to the final closing chords. • February 22, 2008 I love this thing.

I play first trombone at my school. I LOVE the dynamic contrast in this piece! It's so powerful! It goes from Fortissimo to Piano within a beat on more than one occasion. I love the fact that it presented a bit of a challenge, and it's very interesting...

, but not so hard that everyone in the band hall starts throwing down their horns and storming off in disgust.

  • June 23, 2006 Amazing!

I had to play the solo in the school concert and was all prepared until my clarinet broke halfway through the piece before - after a hurried change I played it and it's just amazing how after all the build up in the piece it just goes deadly silent except...

from one lonely clarinet!! (It also heightened by the fact I could hardly play the borrowed clarinet!)

This piece is a work of art, I love it, the passion put into every second of it is just flooring, this song is nothing short of a masterpiece, and if you haven't heard it i recommend you do immediately. I'm a percussionist, timpani in this case and...

it doesn't even take playing it with the band to love it, even just playing the timpani alone you feel the emotion of this song. I'm sure it's the same for everyone else.
