"Ilhan Baran was born in 1934 in Artvin, Turkey. He studied composition with Ahmed Adnan Saygun. This Suite of nine pieces was composed in 1956. It aims to be instructional, and chords and patterns do lie very well under the hands. However, the rhythmic characteristics and fast tempi make the cycle challenging! They are ideal pieces for the percussion student and/or performer looking for solo piano pieces. The audio sample is of Nos. 2 & 5 in their entirety.
