I have had a CD recording of Peeters Lied Symphony for 20 years and never tire of listening to it. It was only recently that I felt to be a reasonably competent organist to buy the music and have a go. It is superb but challenging. My favourite (and easiest...

to learn despite the many accidentals) is the Lied to the Mountains which does require a good diapason chorus to pull it off. The most difficult is the last title - Lied to the Sun - which is of advanced standard. However, it is one of those pieces that is worth the time and patience to learn. The others rely entirely on widely varying registrations to work. In summary, this is a fine work and must rate as one of Peeters' best compositions in his wide repertoire.
