This is the follow-up to the successful Latinitas for Solo Guitar. (ProductNumber: 20995BCD Mel Bay Publications. ) Some of the best-known Latin American rhythms are included in this collection which is carefully graded for intermediate level performance. The most natural way of making music ishaving the accompaniment independent from the melody, so both parts can be played with full expressionand attention to nuances. Also, in LatinAmerican music the second guitar plays some very attractive butsometimes complex rhythms. Therefore, having the two parts separated makes it possible to play thismusic with more accuracy and enjoyment. Latinas for Two, in addition to presenting beautiful melodies and captivating rhythms, should provideguitarists of all ages with a fantastic trip through the sensual South-American world of music!. Book only - audio tracks not included.

This is a nice set of duets - not masterpieces, but they are pleasing to listen to and I think you could use a selection for public performance. They give useful practice in a selection of Latin American rhythms, which can be challenging to read if you are not used to...

them. The individual pieces last between one and a half and two and a half minutes. The book includes instructions for downloading an excellent set of audio tracks (mp3 files). There are three for each piece - a complete performance and a separate recording of each part so you can take the other part and play along. The contents list does not take account of this tripling so it gives the wrong track numbers. One complaint - a duet should be published so that a duo can practise and play from the it. What you get here is just the score with a licence to print it only once. Best (for me) would have been a score plus separate parts, but two copies of the score would be a good alternative.
