This charming work is a typical dance from Venezuela in 3/8 time, orchestrated by Johan de Meij, who was appointed regular guest conductor with the Simon Bolivar Youth Wind Orchestra in 2010. It's dedicated to the founder of El Sistema, Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu and has become the favourite encore for the SBYWO for their concerts around the world.

Joropo is een typische dans uit Venezuela. Johan de Meij orkestreerde dit charmante werk in 3/8 maat. Sinds 2010 is de componist vaste gastdirigent van het Simon Bolivar Youth Wind Orchestra (SBYWO). Het werk is opgedragen aan Jose Antonio Abreu. Hij is de oprichter van het muziekonderwijssysteem in Venezuela, El Sistema. Joropo is uitgegroeid tot de favoriete toegift van het SBYWO tijdens hun concerten over de hele wereld.

Joropo ist ein Stuck aus der Feder des venezolanischen Pianisten und Komponisten Moises Moleiro Sanchez, geschrieben im Stil eines traditionellen venezolanischen Tanzes.
