It is a scale and arpegio dictionary for cello, with all kinds of jazz patterns and scales. They are all written in 12 keys, so this even helps on reading.I think it works good as a side-book to Jazz Improvisation by David Baker too, as that book suggests exercises and this book shows how to finger on cello. It has an intresting concept of fretting, so you use the same fingering for all keys, and no open strings. Good for transposition, playing by relative pitch and intuitively. Each scale is written after the correspondent arpegio, so you start to get an idea of the chord-scale concept. The arpeggios are written in all inversions, and so are the scales, correspondently. As it doesnt suggest using open strings, the student must know well all the positions up to octave harmonic, at least, and being able to shift reasonably. Other than that, there are no exceptions, and will be good to everyone!I really like it.
