Italian Street Parade by Tom Masinter Small Ensemble - Sheet Music

By Tom Masinter

Energy abounds in this not-too-serious street parade in 6/8 meter. There's a beat that's irresistible, and a little melody that marches along. Parts are multi-level, providing opportunity to group players of different abilities. Each player will have fun, and will make a definite contribution to the almost-guaranteed success. Masinter writes for students; this quartet is good evidence of that fact! A Federation Festivals 2024-2028 selection.

not of any use to my students

The catalog description was glowing with praise, but I fail to see the attraction in this ensemble piece. Beginning students would not enjoy the separate parts which are quite boring and intermediate students would not want to spend the time to learn a piece that has neither rhythmic nor melodic interest. Key change to 5 flats is not appropriate for the level listed. Is there a recording of this somewhere that might let the buyer hear the vision of the composer?
