Composed by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Concert,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. 13 pages. C Melville-Mason #6505691. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956640).

A song from Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta Iolanthe, arranged for semi-flexible woodwind combination of two flutes plus either B-flat clarinet or bassoon.  This jaunty tune could be a fun recital piece or just a nice addition to general repertoire.

W S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan were major figures in musical theatre of the Victorian era, collaborating on a series of extremely popular comic operettas, which lampooned some of the fashions and conventions of the time.

This duet from the second act of Iolanthe involves Strephon, the half-fairy, half-mortal son of the titular character, and Phyllis, the lady whom he loves.  The two have just become reconciled after a rift and recognise that they should marry quickly, before they lose their attraction for one another, or one of them falls for someone else.
