The introits were written for performance between the prelude and processional hymn to signal a beginning to the liturgical part of the service. Both liturgically and practically there has been a great benefit; the service begins with a sense of unity within the current season. The introits help connect all of those Sundays. More practically, the introits bring about a sense of anticipation for the beginning of the service. They have been directed by a section leader and often intoned by either clergy or a member of the choir. It has been a joy to work on these pieces. Iain Quinn, composer.
