    I bought the book because I was looking for a nice arrangement of "An Affair To Remember" from the Movie "Love Story". I'm happy with that arrangement and "The Shadow Of Your Smile". But Shearing's other strange arrangements of off-key dissonance I won't play at my...

    gigs. I suspect it would sound to most people like mistakes. Before buying the book, listen to George Shearing a bit on YouTube to make sure you "get" his musical "ear". I don't.

    My piano level is at a high intermediate level. This book has good selections, but I was hoping for more interesting arrangements. I was disappointed.

    I now call this collection my "therapy!" I sit and play through 8-10 Shearing arrangements in this book each day and my outlook is totally sunny and cool! I grew up in the 60s listening to Shearing, but this is the first book I've found that really takes...

    me back to his wonderful sound. I especially love his version of "Nobody Does It Better!" That is worth the price of the book alone.

    A lot of the famous Shearing ballads are in this collection. Very romantic arrangements. You can dazzle and impress your girfriend/boyfriend with some effort, careful fingering good sense of rhythm. George Shearing wrote beautiful chord progressions that take you from elation to near tears. Love this book. All it...

    These arrangments are absolutely terrific! Rich, beautiful, full chord progressions. Don't be turned off by the SMP 8 difficulty level. These are playable with a little effort. At first glance, many of the compositions appeared to be not too difficult for an intermediate player. Most are in easy keys...

    , but the shear number of accidentals can be initially overwhelming. An advanced intermediate player can master many of these selections in just a few days or so. Others are more difficult and I haven't yet had the courage to try them. But I've had a great time learning them and I'm proud to be able to play these for my friends or when we have company over. They really make you sound like a professional. Somewhere Over The Rainbow is simply awesome! I had never heard this arrangment before and I'm amazed at how good it is. This is the best song collection I've ever owned and I recommend it highly.
