Insane Christmas piece for the band to enjoy, yes, give yourselves a present this year. Why I did this seemed like a good idea at the time, BUT - In our banding youth (and at times later in life, unfortunately) we all had to play at one time or another “Instant Concert” by Harold Walters, remember? A so-called hilarious package of some 20 something well-known tunes (some not so known to us Brit’s) of a mixed popular and classical nature in 3 minutes +? After being in the youth pad for several years and pulled out like “Old Yella” to amuse the audience one would begin to hate it’s appearance anywhere, plus then having to do it as a grown-up conducting youth bands as a type of, “I did it, so you have to as well” vengeance! So, I reap my own vengeance and for you too by sending it up in a secret subversive fashion for the bands' person who will know how wicked I have been to pair some very unlikely bedfellows together. A Frankenstein/Moriarty type of arrangement!
I give you, “Instant Christmas Concert” in the original Mr. Walters gives you 30 snippets in 3 mins 20 sec’s, I’ve added another 31 Christmas tune snippets to the Walters War Horse, with some unlikely parented bed-fellows such as, “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” at the same time as “Chicken Reel” hoe-down! There’s also a good deal of choreography, singing and a degree of dressing up. It’s all for the band, the audience will be looking to certify you all! Merry Xmas.
