I am an advanced pianist always on the lookout for new hymn arrangements. I almost did not buy this except for Nearer, Still Nearer which I have not seen arranged. I am just so glad I did because this is a book of gems--beautifully arranged, faithful to the text...

, challenging to heart, soul, and mind. It requires an advanced pianism though, because Mr. Forrest loves to play the melody against a singing (counter)melody sometimes by the same hand. So far I have played five of these gems and all were well-received in church. Just to clarify the level of difficulty, Illuminations is much easier than Joel Raney's Expressions or settings by Joseph Martin.
