Honky-Tonk Rag has that old "honky-tonk" piano sound and is one of 6 pieces written in the traditional ragtime style of the great Scott Joplin. Using little or no RH double octave work, these rags were composed to help the intermediate level student gain confidence with the difficult "stride" bass technique. The bass must remain steady for the right hand syncopation to be effective. The given fingering works well but is a suggested one only and can be altered to suit the performer.

Intermediate/Grade 4-5 level.
