West Side Story is a musical play with music byLeonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It was inspired by WilliamShakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. Highlights – West Side Story is a medley of music from the music andincludes Something’s Coming, Maria, America, There’s a Place for Us, I FeelPretty, One Heart, and Tonight.
The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhoodin New York City in the mid-1950s and explores the rivalry between two teenagestreet gangs of different ethnic backgrounds in a blue-collar neighborhood. Aformer member of the white gang and best friend of the gang’s leader, falls inlove with the sister of the rival gang’s leader.
This arrangement for flute choir is scored for piccolo, 3flutes, alto flute (alternate c-flute part is included), bass flute, and opt.contrabass flute.
