This is a wonderful book; aptly titled "Harmonic Exercises." The late Clare Fischer was a brilliant pianist, composer and arranger of the highest order. This book takes you through a series of diatonic and chromatic exercises that are a workout to play and an education in harmony. Each harmonic progression...

is printed at the top of each page and the exercises are written out below. He has exercises with augmented scales, varying rhythms and interesting harmonic combinations. One exercise moves chromatically from a Cmaj7+5 to a Cminor/major7, down to the same combination starting with Bmaj+5 and so on. As a jazz musician, I find some of these harmonic patterns coming out in my improvisations. I highly recommend this book.
