I was asked to write a piece for four recorders by local recorder quartet, and this is the result - a cheerful and fun piece - suitable for home music making or concert. The duration is just under four minutes. The descending ground bass line is slightly reminiscent of that in 'Pachabel's canon' - but this is only superficial. Each of the for instruments in turn, gets to play the bass and the melody, and there are a number of exchanges or 'conversations' that take place between the players. The standard is fine for an amateur quartet and would also be useful as a repertoire/teaching ensemble piece.
