    Difficulty Level:
  • March 29, 2019 Fine Edition of the Goldbergs

Every editor of the Goldberg Variations has their own fingerings, so comparing others is invaluable to me. Fingering is unusually complex in this set, involving cross-overs and matters of voicing. This edition is beautifully printed with well-figured fingerings.

    Difficulty Level:
  • September 24, 2014 For harpsichord with 2 manuals

Edited by Christoph Wolf / fingering by harpsichordist Huguette Dreyfus. Dreyfus notes that she fingered with 2 manuals in mind for the variations that are thus designated, and therefore these may not be the best for a single keyboard (think piano). The fingering also illustrates harpsichord phrasing and articulation, which is...

NOT Schenkerian. If you are a harpsichordist, this should work better than Henle's (I have both editions.)
