I sang this several years ago when I was a member of a small a cappella group. The harmonies are lovely; the alto line is especially noteworthy for its fluidity, beauty and range. Although there are a couple of high notes, the highest note for altos is an E-flat...

(I think - it's certainly no higher) and you don't stay on the high notes long. This is one of my favorite pieces. I rated it intermediate/advanced because it requires a fair amount of vocal control and an ability to blend seamlessly with other parts. As far as notes and timing go, it's not that difficult, but to do it well, you really have to have a group whose members HEAR all the other parts. *Addendum to review* The highest alto note is significantly lower than an E-flat. I dug out my tape of our performance and realized my mistake. Everything else I said in my real review still applies.
