  • February 13, 2009 Strommen is the master arranger

    My only wish is that there were more trumpet accompaniments available by Carl Strommen. I've enjoyed every one immensely. Even the most seasoned pro will enjoy the flexibility in these arrangments and Strommen's style.

    Carl Strommen is a fantastic arranger. It is SO great to find Trumpet w/ Piano Accompaniment! It also has chord names in the Piano Accompaniment so if other harmonizing instruments want to play along, it works. I would very much like to see more arrangements like this for Trumpet and...

    I ordered three books in this series, Movie Songs by Special Arrangement, Broadway by..., and Gershwin by ... They are all excellent and a lot of fun to play along with. Also, unlike many book/CD combinations of this type, the trumpet player on the "demo" track is really good, with...

    great style and a wonderful sound. By playing along with him, you get a good feel for how to phrase and where to place those unwritten accents and how to play the right note lengths. These are some of the best books of their type that I've worked with, and I recommend them highly.
