I ordered this too late to practice it in time for the last Sunday of Advent, but our small Latin Mass choir was so eager to learn it that they picked it up entirely on their own. This exquisite piece features a continuous chant line alternating between men and women...

's voices with occasional choral embellishments and a plaintive four-part antiphon. Our director had some initial conccerns about the numerous time signature changes but that issue quickly resolved itself since the piece flows so well. Like Marcel Dupre's Ubi Caritas and Tantum Ergo, Nestor's Rorate Caeli is an artful and sensitive choral improvisation on a Gregorian chant theme and a refreshing and useful addition to our repertoire.
