Fingerstyle Noel for Guitar

This book/cd should help you get to a higher level or at least bring you back up to speed if you haven't played in a while. There are two drawbacks to this package in my view: 1. There are five songs on the CD that are omitted from...

the book. 2. Some of my favorite songs are in non-standard tuning. But on the plus side you get many additional songs. The "easytab" songs are just that, but provide a good foundation for adding your own improvisations. The arrangements of the songs that are on the CD are of excellent quality, very rich with a full bodied sound. I honestly can't say enough about the quality of Mark Hanson's guitar skills. The "Christmas Medly" is beautifully played. This is a CD you will put on the stereo for everyone's enjoyment.

First half of the book is the sheet music for a Mark Hanson Christmas album -- pretty difficult stuff. The second half was simple Christmas songs, but the arrangements weren't very nice. Instead, I'd recommend A Fingerstyle Guitar Christmas, Hal Leonard HL.699038. Two pages per song, easy enough...

to be fun, but still interesting to play and beautiful to listen to.
