Beginning with a bold unison fanfare, "Fanfare a 5" is a well-crafted brass quintet in which the tuba and trombone (or euphonium) play strong melodic roles. Though playable by better than average second year players, this quintet is musically strong enough to be performed by high school players and has even been performed by professional quintets. Includes optional parts for Bb Trumpet 3 (to replace F horn) and Baritone TC (to replace Trombone/Baritone/Euphonium) making it even more accessible to young brass ensembles. Includes score and all parts.

This is the initial year for the brass quintet program I formed at the local high school. All of my players are very young and it is their first experience playing in a small-group setting, and because of their youth, they are still working their way through the "apprentice...

" stage of their musicianship. I was looking for a piece that could be performed in a concert setting that sounded good and was commensurate with their skill level, and this fit both those criteria. It takes an opening theme that is restated in different ways throughout the piece. It is a great piece for building the confidence of young brass quintet players!
