These etudes aren't simply technical exercises like many are. Many of them are truly pieces of great music and as the previous poster from Seattle writes, if used in combination, these etudes can be a part of recital or concert. Truly great music.

    Difficulty Level:
  • September 23, 2008 Koechlin - Etudes for Saxophone and Piano, Op. 188

These etudes will keep even the most advanced player busy for months or a lifetime. These are not merely great pedagogical pieces for advanced students, but almost any combination of four of them works great as a sonata for recital or concert. With beautiful melodies and treacherous technique, this is...

the French saxophone at its best, both for the player and the audience. Many fine recordings exist of the best of these etudes, but as far as I know, only the Federico Mondelci release on the Chandos label contains all 15 Etudes. Find it! You will need it!
