Esprit De Corps by John Philip Sousa Chamber Music - Digital Sheet Music

By John Philip Sousa

According to the notes by Paul E. Bierley and Loras J. Schissel: “The “Esprit de Corps” Sousa references in this march is the camaraderie, the bond of friendship that forms between those who serve together”. The friend in mind is “Wilson J. Vance of Ohio”, a Civil War Medal of Honor recipient and librettist on Sousa’s operetta “The Smugglers”. This Brass Quintet arrangement was made using “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa score as found at https://www.marineband.marines.mil/Audio-Resources/The-Complete-Marches-of-John-Philip-Sousa/. Esprit De Corps was composed in 1878, and the referenced edition was made Public Domain in 2015. The piece is catalogued as Volume 1, No. 5.
