Here in a single volume is the original guitar method of Mateo Carcassi (1792-1853) translated to ENGLISH and SPANISH and published with his famous "25 Studies". Although regarded as moderately archaic in terms of modern guitar technique, Carcassi's time- proven method is second to none in its presentation of a graded learning system featuring scales, exercises, and engaging compositions in various keys. Written in standard notation only.

So when I got this book it seemed like a great deal, it's supposed to have both his op 59 method and the op 60 famous 25 etudes for the price of what you would pay for either. turns out it leaves off all the 50 etudes at the...

end of op 59, and where they would be... it has a rondo. By Carulli. In the Carcassi book. Carulli. Not sure if the "Let me just take out these 50 pages and insert these 3 from a completely different book" method of editing is the best idea...Another thing that bothers me is the fingerings put in were obviously done by somebody who has no idea about the 19th century performance practice of cross-string slurs, but a lot of people don't, so I can't hold that totally against them.On the plus side, I really like that it's spiral bound.

How do you improve on success? You don't. Great book for exercises, methods, and beautiful melodies.

Was really dissapointed to find out that this is really a Mel Bay method guitar book and not just the hot Carcassi sheet music I was used to. Had a great book of it 30 years ago, was hoping to rekindle my connection with that music, this was NOT it...

. Two thumbs down and a waste of my money.

I bought this book in the 1960 and never had the inclination to study it. I now have time to study the classical guitar, so I bought a classical guitar, and started studying the Carcassi Method. It is refreshing to have a method written for intellegent human beings. I also...

appreciate the effort and creativity Matteo applied to the exercises he wrote. I can't imagine a more compelling introduction to the classical guitar. [...]

Going through some old Mel Bay Guitar Method books I frequently came across the name Carcassi associated with some fine little tunes. When I saw this Carcassi Guitar Method book I quickly bought it. I find it fascinating in terms of its approach, and most interesting musically. I have learned...

a lot from it. You have to know how to read music for this book.
