This is a fine edition of these Op. 72 pieces. The notes are nice and black and well laid out. No complaints.

  • June 25, 2008 A beautiful set of pieces !

I simply love all of these pieces ; but I have a weakness for the Berceuse, Tendres Reproches, Méditation, Dialogue and Chant Elégiaque and Passé Lointain. They all are different, but they all have so much charm. Tchaikovsky's melodic gift is really impressive. I want to play them...

over and over. Some pieces require more training (for example, the Valse à cinq temps - a five-beat-waltz ; or the Polacca de concert and the Scène dansante). The edition is clear, easy to read. Aveu passionné was arranged by Tchaikovsky himself from the central and main part of his symphonic ballad the Voewoda Op.78 (he tore the score into pieces after the first representation, but the work was still published thanks to the orchestral parts). A marvellous piece of music, with a very romantic melody. Quite easy to play with a bit of practice. All these pieces are worth trying ! Have fun !

  • October 27, 2007 Meditation and Berceuse

Meditation is one of the best and most moving pieces ever written, and Berceuse is lovely. I haven't heard any of the others, but I would bet they are just as wonderful. It's worth it.
