  • January 16, 2017 excellent, lesser-known pieces

    Nobody I know, including myself, had heard of this composer, which is a shock considering how fantastic this opus is! Bruch wrote these pieces for piano, clarinet, and viola, and this edition includes alternate parts for violin to sub for the clarinet and cello to sub for the viola.

    fine pieces. Half are for A clarinet; half for b-flat. Normally with a piano trio (piano plus two instruments), those instruments are different: one high, one low, etc. Clarinet and viola have same range and same timbre. Makes a fascinating sound. There is also a volume II. Same comments...
