I would not recommend this course as a primary method. The music consists mostly of excerpts of classical masterworks in simplified form--not a balanced diet for a student's primary instruction. However, the book makes an excellent supplement to another method. The pieces emphasize contrapuntal playing over chords. This...

book in particular provides excellent training in finger crossings and position shifts, often weak areas in other courses. It also includes key signature work up to three sharps and flats. I enjoy using this course to fill in the gaps left by other methods. The students enjoy the interesting music, and they learn the short pieces readily. All ages can use this course profitably.
