When it was released in 1973, Dream On received heavy airtime and subsequently climbed to number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The popularity of Dream On was at its highest in singer Steven Tyler's home town of Boston, where it was number one on local radio station charts in 1973. The song was edited in 1975 and re-released, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1976.
The opening riff was inspired by Steven Tyler's father, who trained at the prestigious Julliard school of music. Tyler's father used to play classical music in his presence and the harmonic progressions that were played proved to be inspiring.
This Sheet Music Boss arrangement by Andrew Wrangell is approximately grade 6 level. This arrangement includes the iconic opening riff. It would be an excellent choice of piece for a concert.
