Over the years there have been some divided opinions as to whether this tune was a Parker composition or whether it was in fact the work of trumpeter Miles Davis. Either way, Donna Lee has become synonymous with golden era of be-bop and has been recorded and re-imagined countless times over the decades.
Scored for two altos, tenor and baritone, this Be-Bop favourite is a sure-fire audience pleaser. Opening and closing with the head in a blistering unison, this chart should prove to be an impressive roast-up for all four players. There is solo space for alto 1 but an optional cut allows this chart to be played without any improvisation. There is a harmonised transcription of a Parker solo chorus and there is also a optional part for drum kit.
